It's not very often that a band comes together and magic happens. Some musicians never find it, Lorenzo did it with 2 phone calls.
Lorenzo's songs are already turning heads with powerful and catchy song writing, combined with the return of "The Guitar Hero." The songs have all the energy of a high-powered metal act and the refined song writing that crosses over into mainstream genres. With the sales and hit potential of bands like Nickelback and 3 Doors Down, Lorenzo has the talent, network and attitude. The magic of the lineup is evident with one viewing of their non-stop live show.
It all started when legendary record promoter, Bill Scull, who worked some of Arista's most important records in the 70s and 80s, knew he saw something special early on when he heard Marko's songs, "Little Breakdown" and "2 a.m." That's what prompted him to sign him to his E/O label.
And when Scull enlisted [future] two-time Juno award winner and Ozzy Osbourne co-writer/producer, Kevin Churko to produce him, Churko, (who had just finished working on a Shania Twain album with Mutt Lange), flat-out told Scull after he heard the demos that "this is the kind of artist every producer dreams of finding."
Hailing originally from Toledo, OH, Marko used a revolving door of musicians trying to find the right lineup, They quickly rose to become the top unsigned Rock acts in the Midwest per the Billboard/DiscMakers Independent Music World Series. After packing clubs in various cities in Ohio, opening for several major acts, such as 3 Doors Down, Default and Hinder, it seemed there were no limits to where the band could go.
In the midst of all the shows, accolades, promotion and a distribution deal with Universal, some of the musicians allured by the seemingly easy ride to the top lost focus. It was then that Marko received a call from Jason Viebrooks, a household name in the world of Metal (Heathen, Grip Inc, the band formed by Slayer's Dave Lombardo). Jason's travels include tours with Motorhead and Kreator, among others. One of his past projects, The Allknowing, toured with ex-Megadeth bassist Dave Ellefson's project, Temple of Brutality.
Jason and his good friend, drummer Steve Jacobs, (who recently performed guest spots with Stone Temple Pilots and who has been in Testament, Forbidden, Manmade God, whose debut was produced by legendary producer, Rick Rubin), expressed interest in joining Lorenzo. The merger immediately increased the professionalism as well as the talent of the band.
The new members and Marko then called Jason's old bandmate, Ira Black. Black, a veteran axeman, who has played with a who's who of Metal acts (Lizzy Borden, Metal Church to name a few) and has shared bills with some of the biggest acts, such as Aerosmith, Judas Priest and Def Leppard to name a few, not only brings a whole new arsenal of sounds and showmanship to the group, but also has the songwriting chops to go with it. His writing and production credits include many rock projects including vocalist Paul Shortino's (Quiet Riot/Rough Cutt) CD, "Chasing My Dream." Black also has a Signature guitar designed and sold by Dean.
After Black heard the songs, it was a quick sell and the New Lorenzo re-emerged with its most lethal line-up to date.
Shortly after the new incarnation, Marko's sound and lighting man, Mike Stuckey (president of touring sound/lighting company Thunderbolt Systems) played Lorenzo for MMA Big Show founder, Jason Appleton. Impressed by the band's material, Appleton gave them a slot on his new TV show. From there, "Nothin' Left To Talk About" became the theme song of the show, which currently airs in the Ohio area on the CW and poised to go nationwide with an overseas contract already procured.
Currently, the band is recording a new CD's worth of material and has already received interest from labels, managers and tours. Lorenzo is still focused on finishing the material on their own, and thus deciding their own future. With so many accomplishments and attention so far, it will not be long until Lorenzo "is on the national scene." - Minnesota Music
